Annual AGM November 2020

November 2020

Dear Members,

AGM NOTICE AND 2021 COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS

It is that time if the year again when we need to hold our Annual General Meeting.  This is scheduled for Wednesday                       25th November, at the Striders Running Club in Ballito, at 18H00, followed by a Public Meeting.

This meeting will be the final opportunity to elect new Committee members for 2021.  We are pleased to confirm that only three of our existing Committee of 13 intend on resigning in November, leaving us with a great group of volunteers to steer you into 2021.   For those of you who consider helping the Community by serving on the BNW Committee, we would welcome you.  Please refer to our BNW Constitution on our website for more information on the Committee Member’s role and formal responsibilities.  We will maintain the reduced number of Public Meetings for 2021, we feel that with other communication platforms are effective enough currently.

To improve our Street Cluster communication, we will be introducing our new streamlined user friendly, custom communication application with members at the end of November.  We hope that this will simplify incident reporting and our aim of being the eyes and ears of our Community, and also making our discussions more purposeful and aligned to our organisational aims.  The Street Groups will remain in operation until mid-December 2020.

This year saw a big drop in crime and the start of the Covid pandemic, with a sharp increase again in June.  Our local SAPS, in partnership with a few local effective security providers, have had major successes in arresting perpetrators who were preying on our area, something which we are very grateful for.   We have been fortunate enough to see the value that the RE/MAX Dolphin Realtors Number Plate Recognition Cameras have had, with a number of successes in 2019/2020 so far, but there is, however, a concerning trend in car theft at the moment.

The success of Ballito Neighbourhood Watch depends on the active participation of its members and we urge you all to nominate new members for the Committee and be a part of a solution that will create a safe neighbourhood for us all to cherish.  We are down dramatically in memberships being paid this year and we have a number of projects planned for next year, so if you have not already paid, please do so asap.

If you are available to serve or want to nominate someone else, please let Jenny know at

secretary@ballitonw.org.za.

Please give this serious consideration and we look forward to seeing you on the 25 November 2020.

Kind Regards,

BNW Committee
