HELP US CONTINUE TO KEEP BALLITO SAFE
The Ballito and Salt Rock Neighbourhood Watches were fortunate enough to be able to install 7 SNIPR Automatic Numberplate recognition cameras at the entrances of Ballito and Salt Rock at the beginning of 2019 through the #RE/MAX Safer Streets Campaign.
These cameras have proven to be worth their money repeatedly over the years, being key in identifying vehicles that have been loaded onto the Law Enforcement Database of wanted vehicles, for a range of crimes, from armed robberies to stolen vehicles, card scammers etc. This technology enabled us to alert law enforcement and security providers within Ballito and Salt Rock to react as soon as a suspicious vehicle entered our precinct and has led to many arrests and recovery of vehicles.
With SNIPR being the leading ANPR camera solution in South Africa with over 2,500 cameras nationally and in excess of 900 in KZN alone, the network of cameras around the Dolphin Coast all end up interlinking and giving other SNIPR users a heads up of vehicles in the area.
The BNW and SRNW cameras were directly responsible for 26 vehicles being identified and resulted in arrests and fines for crimes ranging from unlicensed firearms, house robbers, stolen vehicles and false number plates being used to mention a few. Other SNIPR cameras in the region has resulted in a total of 134 results!
In order for us to continue using this technology, there is an annual fee payable, and this is where we want to ask the public for assistance in terms of financial donations to assist the Neighbourhood Watch in paying for the annual licencing fee and data usage for the 7 cameras. Any donation is welcome and will go a long way towards reaching our goal. Please see below QR code to pay via Zapper, this will take you directly to the BNW Fundraising account or pay into the BNW account.
